Understanding incident statuses and closing permissions

Last updated: 11 August 2026.

Open means active and still being worked on. Awaiting Information flags a report that's paused pending something outside your control — a statement, a document, an external response. Closed means the incident is fully resolved and the record is final.

Status affects visibility across the platform: open and awaiting-information incidents surface differently in dashboards and reminders than closed ones, since they still need attention.

Not every user can close an incident. User group permissions separate the ability to create and edit a report from the ability to close one — a common setup gives most staff the former and reserves closing for supervisors or managers, so a report isn't finalised before it's actually complete.
