How malware scanning protects your uploads

Last updated: 11 August 2026.

Evidence files come from all kinds of sources — a phone, a USB stick, a CCTV export — and not all of them are trustworthy. Every file uploaded to E-DOB is scanned for malware automatically, with no action needed from you.

If a file fails the scan it's quarantined rather than attached to the incident — it isn't stored or made available to anyone, and the upload is rejected. Files are scanned up to the platform's standard upload limit.

If you believe a legitimate file has been incorrectly flagged, contact support — this happens rarely, but a genuine file can occasionally trigger a false positive and needs a manual review to release.
